About SSGC LPG | Company Profile & Safety Info

SSGC LPG is a fully integrated liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) marketing and distribution company owned by the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). It provides safe, OGRA-approved LPG cylinders (both metal and lightweight fiber) to homes and businesses across Pakistan. Unlike informal local vendors, SSGC LPG operates through a formal supply chain featuring Pakistan’s only dedicated open-access LPG terminal at Port Qasim, ensuring consistent quality and reliable home delivery via website, WhatsApp, or phone. SSGC LPG Company Snapshot Established: Subsidiary of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). Client Base: Has served approximately 500+ clients since inception. Primary Service Area: Registered in Karachi, with distribution networks across Sindh, Balochistan, and expanding into Punjab/KPK. Industries Served: Domestic Households, Commercial (Restaurants/Hotels), and Industrial sectors. What is SSGC LPG? SSGC LPG Limited (SLL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sui Southern Gas Company, one of Pakistan’s largest state-owned natural gas utilities. While SSGC primarily distributes piped natural gas, SSGC LPG was created to address energy shortages and provide a cleaner, portable fuel alternative for areas where piped gas is unavailable or unreliable. The company manages the entire lifecycle of LPG—from importing and storing it at its specialized terminal in Port Qasim to bottling it into certified cylinders and delivering it directly to customers' doorsteps. This "fully integrated" model means they control the quality of the gas from the source to your kitchen stove. Why Does SSGC LPG Matter in Pakistan? In recent years, Pakistan has faced significant challenges with natural gas load-shedding, particularly during winter months. Furthermore, many rural and semi-urban areas lack access to the national gas grid. SSGC LPG matters because it offers a structured, safer alternative to the often unregulated local LPG market. By providing OGRA (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority) compliant cylinders and transparent pricing, it helps eliminate the risks associated with under-filled or unsafe cylinders commonly found in the black market. Additionally, as a subsidiary of a major public utility, it plays a critical role in stabilizing domestic energy supplies during peak demand seasons. How SSGC LPG Works: The Supply Chain To understand why SSGC LPG is considered reliable, it helps to look at how the gas gets to your home. Import & Storage: SSGC LPG operates a dedicated open-access terminal at Port Qasim, Karachi. This facility can handle large vessels (up to 15,000 DWT) and has significant storage capacity, allowing the company to maintain reserves even when global supply chains are tight. Bottling: The bulk LPG is transferred to bottling plants where it is filled into standardized cylinders. These cylinders undergo rigorous safety checks before leaving the facility. Distribution: Instead of relying solely on third-party retailers, SSGC LPG has developed a direct-to-consumer network. Customers can order online, and the company manages the last-mile delivery through its own logistics partners or authorized distributors. Industry Leadership SSGC LPG actively collaborates with regulatory authorities to help develop higher national HSE standards. Types of Cylinders: Fiber vs. Metal One of the most common questions new users have is about the type of cylinder they should choose. SSGC LPG offers two primary options: Feature Metal (Steel) Cylinder Fiber (Composite) Cylinder Material Traditional welded steel Fiberglass composite wrap Weight Heavy; difficult to lift Lightweight; easy to carry Safety Can fragment if exposed to extreme fire Explosion-proof; leaks pressure safely Durability Prone to rust and corrosion over time Rust-free and corrosion-resistant Transparency Opaque; cannot see gas level Often translucent; allows visual level check Best For Fixed outdoor installations Indoor kitchens and frequent moving Note: While fiber cylinders are more expensive upfront due to the security deposit, their safety features—specifically their ability to release pressure gradually rather than exploding—make them a preferred choice for indoor use. How to Order SSGC LPG SSGC LPG has simplified the booking process to reduce reliance on informal middlemen. You can order through three main channels: 1. Online Website Visit the official ordering portal at ssgclpg.com/order. Here you can select your cylinder size (typically 10kg or 11.8kg), choose between a new cylinder or a refill, and schedule a delivery date. 2. WhatsApp Booking For those who prefer chat-based services, SSGC LPG offers a WhatsApp helpline. You can send your contact details and location to 0321-2255217. This method is particularly popular for quick refills. 3. Phone Call You can call their customer facilitation center at 021-99243435 or 03111-140-450. Their support team is available from 11 AM to 10 PM, seven days a week. Important Requirement: Orders usually need to be placed one day in advance to ensure smooth logistics and delivery scheduling. Pricing and Costs LPG prices in Pakistan are influenced by global crude oil rates and are periodically reviewed by the OGRA. However, SSGC LPG maintains a transparent pricing structure that typically includes: Security Deposit: A one-time refundable fee for new cylinders (e.g., approximately Rs. 10,500 for an 11.8kg metal cylinder). Gas Cost: The price per kilogram of LPG, which fluctuates based on international markets. Delivery Charges: A small fee for home delivery, which may vary depending on your location within the service area. Tip: Always check the official SSGC LPG website or their latest social media posts for the most current daily rates, as these can change weekly. Safety First: Using LPG at Home Using LPG is safe when proper precautions are taken. Because LPG is heavier than air, it settles near the floor if it leaks. Here are essential safety tips: Check for Leaks: Apply a soapy water solution to the regulator and hose connections. If bubbles form, there is a leak. Never use a flame to check for leaks. Ventilation is Key: Always keep kitchen windows open or use an exhaust fan. Good airflow prevents gas buildup. Upright Position: Keep cylinders standing upright. Laying them on their side can cause liquid gas to enter the regulator, which is dangerous. Turn Off the Regulator: When not in use, especially at night, turn off the main valve on the cylinder. Keep Away from Heat: Do not place cylinders near stoves, heaters, or in direct sunlight. Common Misconceptions About SSGC LPG Misconception: "SSGC LPG is just another local brand with no real difference." Reality: SSGC LPG is backed by the infrastructure of the Sui Southern Gas Company. Its ownership of the Port Qasim terminal gives it a supply chain advantage that most private marketers do not have, leading to better consistency in stock availability. Misconception: "Fiber cylinders are plastic and will melt easily." Reality: Fiber cylinders are made of high-strength composite materials designed to withstand high pressure and heat. In fire scenarios, they are actually safer than steel because they are engineered to vent gas slowly rather than rupture violently. Misconception: "I can refill my SSGC cylinder at any local shop." Reality: To maintain safety and warranty standards, SSGC LPG encourages users to get refills through their official channels or authorized distributors. Unauthorized refilling may compromise the safety seal and tracking of the cylinder. Frequently Asked Questions Order Issues?
