From Monday, January 10, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) will distribute the first quarterly instalment of Rs 7,000 to Kafaalat programme recipients for 2023.
In the first payment, almost 7.7 million families would receive more than Rs55 billion. Women and transgender people from Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan will receive their money from Habib Bank payment centres or biometric automated teller machines (ATMs).
At the same time, funds will be disbursed through Bank Al-Falah payment centres or biometric ATMs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In her address to beneficiaries, Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Shazia Marri stated that transparency would be maintained at all times throughout fund distributions.
She instructed the recipients to get their entire Rs. 7,000 instalments and also to request to get a payment receipt by the relevant quarter.
She continued by saying that neither a deduction nor a payment fee will be applied to this sum. “Beneficiaries should immediately report to BISP’s toll-free hotline 080026477 or call the local BISP Tehsil Office,” she insisted. “If someone requests any form of deduction or fee for payment.”
Shazia Marri advised the recipients that the communication from BISP would arrive from the number 8171 and that any message from a different number or code is a fraudulent or fake message and should not be relied upon.
During the current fiscal year, up to 127,017 registered families in the district will get Rs7,000 under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). Malik Safdar Awan, Deputy Director of BISP Sargodha, told the media on Saturday that the government was eager to improve the living conditions of the underprivileged through BISP programmes. He went on to say that 10,717 registered beneficiaries in Bhulwal, 5,925 in Bhera, 17,910 in Kotmomin, 10,205 in Sahiwal, 56,626 in Sargodha, 12,104 in Shahpur, and 13,531 in Sillanwali will each receive Rs7,000 in the next week. He stated that the government was utilising all available resources for the betterment and welfare of the population through BISP assistance programmes.

In the first week of Jan 2023, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) made the first payment to deserving families under the “Orphans and Widows Support Programme (OWSP)” at a ceremony in Karachi.
According to a press release issued here, Faryal Talpur, President of the PPP Women Wing and Member of the Sindh Assembly, launched the programme by releasing the first payments in the presence of Senator Waqar Mehdi and PBM Managing Director Amir Fida Paracha.
Faryal Talpur stated in her speech that the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) truly reflects Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s sympathetic approach to the country’s poor and disadvantaged segments.
She praised the OWSP project for educating and empowering the country’s poor women and girls, and she praised the PBM chief for meeting the set targets in the Social Protection Field in a short period of time.
In his remarks at the ceremony, Senator Waqar Mehdi lauded the PBM’s pro-poor initiatives, noting that, in addition to other measures for orphan children, the PBM’s ongoing task includes the novel idea of accommodating poor widows and their school-age daughters.
PBM MD Amir Fida Paracha highlighted the project, saying that widows registered under BISP have been linked with OWSP with the condition of having one or more school-aged orphan girls.
He stated that the initiative translates the unique and compassionate concept of protecting orphan girls by providing them with education and other basic necessities of life.
“To ensure transparency and efficacy in this project, payments are released through UBL OMNI Digital Banking,” he added, explaining that the mother of a school-going orphan girl receives a monthly stipend of Rs 8000, while the mother of multiple school-going orphan girls receives a monthly stipend of Rs 12,000 per month. Paracha also reaffirmed his commitment to realising Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed’s vision for the country’s vulnerable population.
Earlier in December of last year, a total of 1.8 million children have been enrolled in the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Programme, which will distribute Rs. 15 billion to beneficiaries between May and October 2022.
According to an official source, 10.5 million children have been registered in the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Program, which is a Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) intervention. According to the source, 10.5 million youngsters have been registered in the Program since its beginning. Recognizing that many children in BISP beneficiary households were not attending school, the Program was created in 2012 by providing additional income per quarter to BISP beneficiary families for pursuing primary education.
The Program’s scope has been expanded from primary to secondary and higher secondary levels since July 2021, and it is now operational throughout the country. According to the source, an amount of approximately Rs. 49.84 billion has been disbursed among the beneficiaries of the Benazir Kafalat Programme from May to October 2022. During this time period, the number of beneficiaries of the Kafalat Programme, an Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) initiative, increased from 7.2 million to 8.5 million (May-October).
The Kafalat programme currently has around 8.58 million enrolled/registered beneficiaries. However, the present government has set a goal of increasing this figure to 9 million by June 2023. The BISP Board recently approved a policy to include transgenders in the Program, for which they must obtain a CNIC from NADRA clearly stating their gender as ‘transgender’.
