Let us improve our spoken English
We all know that English is a global language, and having a good command of it gives us an edge at work and, in society. Happily, spoken English can be improved a bit more easily than written English, which improves gradually as we read and write more.
1. YOU COULD TRY LISTENING AND SPEAKING WHILE WATCHING:
Cricket commentary, News on BBC, English movies, or TV serials: whatever you watch regularly, listen and speak along quietly to yourself. You see tongue is a muscle and will amaze you with the exercise you give it. Do choose good channels where good English is spoken and avoid American accents because in Pakistan British English is what is usually spoken.
2. ALSO, TRY READING – EVEN ONE PARAGRAPH OF – GOOD ENGLISH EVERY DAY.
You will find that the Editorial in the DAWN is short but in Standard English. Choose one editorial and read that out aloud to further improve your English. The newspaper is available online: Click on https://epaper.dawn.com/ and then choose the ‘Editorial’ link
DISCIPLINE:
You will see good results by committing just 10 minutes to each of the above suggestions every day, but every day!
Try both of the above for a month and send me your feedback on this post. I would really like to get involved with anyone seriously interested to improve his/her spoken English.
