SSGC-Specific Timings for Gas Supply

According to news reports, consumers are already facing severe problems due to long hours of gas shutdowns or low pressure in Sindh, especially in Karachi, where gas will be available at noon and evening. Due to the low gas supply, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced that gas will be available to domestic consumers only for 8 hours a day.

Scheduled Gas Supply Timings:

Morning: From 06:00 AM to 09:00 AM

Afternoon: 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm

Evening: From 06:00 to 09:00 pm

Sui Southern Gas Company tweeted that, as per the instructions of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, SSGC is ensuring gas supply to consumers as per the fixed schedule during meal times.

Following the directives of the Prime Minister, the SSGC will provide convenience to domestic consumers by ensuring gas supply three times a day during meal times, the statement said.

SSGC has remained silent on the non-supply of gas for the remaining 16 hours, while speculations are rife after the utility released the new gas schedule that people are facing gas load-shedding most of the day.

With the onset of winter, citizens, especially students and office-going employees, had to face severe problems due to unannounced and prolonged load shedding in various cities of the province.

Various areas of Karachi are experiencing gas cuts or low pressure during peak hours (when electricity/gas consumption is high), while domestic consumers are calling Gas Utility Complaint Service No. 1199 to complain about gas load shedding. However, they also have no information regarding the load-shedding schedule.

Meanwhile, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh, while talking to the media, said that the gas crisis has become very severe across the country, especially in Sindh province.

He said the provincial government is constantly raising its voice about the gas crisis. It is hoped that the Prime Minister will take notice of the gas crisis.

He further said that most gas is produced in Sindh, yet we are not getting gas as per our requirements. The provincial government has registered its protest before the federal government.
